I wish to give some words, advice and discussion for the European traveller travelling outside of Europe. I have had the pleasure of visiting Asia many times, South America on one occasion and the United States. Hence, my words and thoughts eminate from my myriad of experiences and those fine people I met and relayed their own personal experiences with me.
Don’t think the laws, social norms, freedoms or traditions of equality will necessarily apply to you in your chosen destination.
While Europe has triumphed on the principles of equality, fraternity, liberty for centuries and is the forefront of anti-discrimination , non-racial ,ethnic, or gender discrimination, this may not be reflected in the country that you are visiting.
Many Europeans may suffer discrimination or inequality under the law in some nations based upon citizenship, religious beliefs, race or native language. This will largely depend on the country you visit and the particular events and experiences of your trip. It is not uncommon to be branded with a generic prejudice based upon your ethnicity or decent outside Europe.
Be sure to check with your Foreign Affairs office and travel advices. Similarly, it is often possible to register with your embassy while in a foreign country or territory. Your embassy or another EU embassy can be a first contact in a foreign country.
